Prelude Violin G String - Nickel-Wound Medium Tension - J814-4/4M

Violin G String – Prelude Nickel-Wound Medium Tension – J814-4/4M

This D'Addario Prelude G string pairs a solid steel core with a nickel winding, giving the violin's lowest string a warm, full-bodied tone without losing clarity. Balanced medium tension makes for comfortable bow response and a feel that doesn't fight a developing player.

It's a long-time favorite with music educators for good reason: reliable pitch stability, strong resistance to temperature and humidity swings, and a price that makes restringing a full-size violin an easy call rather than a big expense.

How to Change Your G String

  1. Loosen the old string at the peg or fine tuner and remove it from the tailpiece.
  2. Hook the ball end of the new string into the fine tuner or tailpiece.
  3. Guide the string over the bridge and up through the correct peg hole.
  4. Wind the string onto the peg, keeping the coils neat, and bring it up to pitch gradually.

Care Tip: Bring a new string up to pitch gradually over a day or two rather than tuning it all the way up at once, which gives it time to settle and helps it hold tuning better.
