Saxophone Swab - Chamois Bore Swab with Sponge Center - 465S

Saxophone Swab – Chamois Bore Swab with Sponge Center – 465S

This is the Le Pactole swab from Conn-Selmer: a chamois swab built around a soft sponge center, attached to a weighted cord. The sponge keeps the chamois in contact with the bore as it travels through, so it picks up moisture along the full length of the instrument instead of just skimming the surface.

It's a simple, reliable swab for any saxophonist who wants to clear condensation out of the bore after playing. Regular use is one of the easiest habits for protecting pads and keeping the horn responsive.

Key Features

Chamois Swab Material

Soft and absorbent enough to soak up moisture without scratching the bore.

Sponge Center

Keeps the chamois pressed against the bore walls for consistent contact all the way through.

Weighted Cord

Drops easily through the bell so the swab can be pulled through in one motion.

Full-Bore Design

Sized to travel the full length of the instrument in a single pass.

Moisture Removal

Clears condensation left behind after playing before it can sit and cause problems.

Extends Pad Life

Regular use keeps moisture off the pads, helping them last longer between replacements.

How to Use This Swab

  1. Remove the neck and mouthpiece from the saxophone before swabbing the body.
  2. Drop the weighted end of the cord into the bell and let it fall through to the top of the body.
  3. Gently pull the cord through so the swab follows behind it, drawing moisture out as it travels.
  4. Repeat once or twice if the horn was played for a long session, then let the swab air out before storing it in the case.

Care Tip: Let the swab air dry outside the case before your next session. Storing it damp inside the case invites mildew and can transfer moisture right back into the horn.
