D'Addario Prelude Violin String Set - Prelude Complete Set Medium Tension - J810-4/4M

Violin String Set – Prelude Complete Set, Medium Tension – J810-4/4M

This D'Addario Prelude set gives you all four strings for a full-size violin in one package: a plain steel E, an aluminum-wound A, and nickel-wound D and G strings, each built on a solid steel core. That mix of windings is tuned to give a balanced, warm tone across the full range of the instrument.

It's a long-time favorite with music educators for good reason: reliable pitch stability, strong resistance to temperature and humidity swings, and a price that makes a full restring an easy call rather than a big expense.

Key Features

Complete Set of Four Strings

Everything needed for a full restring in one package: E, A, D, and G.

Solid Steel Cores

Durable construction built for long-term pitch stability and resilience.

Plain steel E, aluminum-wound A, and nickel-wound D and G for even tone.

Fits fine tuners on the tailpiece for straightforward installation.

Balanced Medium Tension

Facilitates comfortable bow response without feeling stiff or loose.

Resists Temperature & Humidity Changes

Holds tuning stability better than many strings through seasonal swings.

How to Restring Your Violin

  1. Change one string at a time rather than removing all four at once, which helps the bridge and soundpost stay in place.
  2. Loosen the old string at the peg or fine tuner and remove it from the tailpiece.
  3. Hook the new string's ball end into the fine tuner or tailpiece, then guide it over the bridge and up through the correct peg hole.
  4. Wind the string onto the peg, keeping the coils neat, and bring it up to pitch gradually before moving to the next string.

Care Tip: Bring each new string up to pitch gradually over a day or two rather than tuning it all the way up at once, which gives it time to settle and helps it hold tuning better.
