dbx AFS2 Dual-Channel Advanced Feedback Suppression Processor (AFS2)
Dedicated 1U feedback suppressor with ultra-narrow filters—built to stop squeals fast while keeping your mix natural.
The AFS2 is a go-to fix for live sound and installed systems where open mics and reflective rooms can turn into runaway feedback. It’s designed to “ring out” a room with Fixed filters, then stay on guard with Live filters during the show—without you constantly riding EQ.
- Up to 24 filters per channel with extremely narrow notch widths (down to 1/80-octave) to minimize tone loss.
- Fixed + Live filter modes: set-and-store filters during setup, then protect the mix as feedback changes in real time.
- Stereo or dual independent channels with an easy wizard and clear metering/LED filter display.
Features
Dedicated dbx AFS processing, on-screen setup wizard, Fixed and Live filters, selectable filter lift times, plus application-oriented options (speech/music voicings) to suit different rooms and rigs.
Advantages
Because the filters are so narrow, you can pull out feedback frequencies with less “blanket EQ” impact—helping vocals stay clear and natural. Great when you’re trying to get more gain-before-feedback from wedges or a PA in a lively space.
Benefits
Fewer squeals, cleaner speech intelligibility, and calmer soundchecks—especially in volunteer-run rooms, schools, churches, and multi-mic stages where feedback can pop up unexpectedly.
- Churches, schools, and community spaces with multiple open mics
- Small venues and portable PA rigs that need “set it and protect it” feedback control
- Install racks where you want dedicated feedback suppression (not bundled into a full loudspeaker processor)
- Monitor rigs where gain-before-feedback is always the battle
Do a quick ring-out before the event to place Fixed filters, then leave Live filters enabled so the unit can catch new feedback as stage volume and mic positions change.
Specs shown reflect common published manufacturer/retailer listings.
The AFS2 is a smart “insurance policy” for rooms that push volume—especially when different people run sound week to week. If you tell us your setup (FOH vs monitors, number of mics, wedges vs IEMs), we can suggest the cleanest place to patch it in and how many Fixed/Live filters to start with.
