Musser Bell Mallets - Brass Head Very Hard - M14

Musser Bell Mallets – Brass Head Very Hard – M14

The M14 puts a solid brass ball on the end of a Two Step fiberglass handle — the hardest, brightest option in Musser’s keyboard mallet line. At 5/8 inch across, the head is small enough to keep the attack tight and articulate rather than clangy, and hard enough that every note speaks at the front of the sound instead of getting buried under the band.

If you play orchestra bells or glockenspiel and need to be heard, this is the standard workhorse pair. Musser’s Two Step handle is thicker toward the butt end and tapers thinner toward the head, so the balance sits naturally in the hand and the shaft flexes instead of fighting you. Mallets are precision matched, so both sides of a double stop sound alike.

Key Features

Solid Brass Head

Brass gives bells their brightest, most brilliant attack and the projection to cut through a full ensemble.

Very Hard Rating

Musser rates the M14 very hard, the top of their hardness scale for maximum articulation and volume.

5/8" Head Diameter

A compact strike surface keeps fast passages clean and makes it easy to stay centered on narrow bell bars.

Two Step Fiberglass Handle

Thicker at the butt for balance and thinner near the head for striking force, so rebound comes back to you.

Warp Resistant

Fiberglass shafts stay straight through humidity swings and stick bag abuse in a way rattan never quite manages.

Precision Matched

Mallets are weight and balance matched so both hands feel the same and chords speak evenly.

Care Tip: Keep these off wooden and synthetic bars — a brass head will dent a xylophone or marimba in a single stroke. Store them in their own slot in your stick bag so the heads aren’t knocking against softer yarn and rubber mallets, and wipe the brass with a dry cloth after playing to keep finger oils from dulling the finish.
