Vic Firth Dave Weckl Signature Drumsticks - Nylon Barrel Tip Pair - SDWN
Vic Firth Dave Weckl Signature Drumsticks – Nylon Barrel Tip Pair – SDWN
This is the nylon-tip version of Dave Weckl’s signature stick, and the tip is the entire story. You still get the barrel shape, which presents a wide flat face to the cymbal for a broad, full sound rather than a narrow ping — but in nylon, so there’s a brighter, cleaner edge on top of it and considerably more attack definition on a ride.
Under that tip it’s the same stick as the wood-tip SDW: premium USA hickory, 16.25" long, .560" in diameter, medium taper. That puts it right in familiar 5A territory, so it plays fast and feels immediately natural. Nylon also outlasts wood, which matters if you ride hard or play a lot of dates.
Key Features
Nylon Barrel Tip
The barrel shape keeps the cymbal sound broad while the nylon adds brightness and a clearer, more defined attack.
Longer Tip Life
Nylon doesn’t chip or wear flat the way a wood tip does, so the sound stays consistent through a run of gigs.
Premium USA Hickory
Dense, resilient and shock-absorbent, which is what keeps a stick this size feeling solid without punishing your hands.
16.25" x .560"
Effectively 5A dimensions with a touch more length, so it drops into most players’ hands with no adjustment.
Fast With Good Leverage
Medium taper keeps the stick quick under the hand while leaving enough weight to drive a drum properly.
Matched Pairs
Vic Firth pairs sticks by weight and pitch, so the two in the pack actually behave and sound like each other.
Care Tip: Check where the nylon tip meets the shaft every so often. Nylon tips loosen before they fail, and a tip that has started to work free will fly off mid-song and take a chunk out of a cymbal or a head on the way. A tip you can rock with a fingernail has already told you it’s done.
