A single ply of 2mil clear film makes the Snare Side 200 one of the most sensitive resonant heads Evans makes, built to pick up soft dynamics and brushwork that a heavier head would miss. Reduced sustain sharpens articulation, so ghost notes and rolls come through crisp rather than blurring together.
This is a 14″ snare-side head that stretches over the bottom of a standard drum set snare, against the snare wires. If your current snare-side head feels dull or unresponsive at low volume, this thin, sensitive film is a straightforward fix.

How to Change a Snare-Side Head
- Release the snare strainer and loosen the tension rods evenly before removing the old snare-side head.
- Lift off the counterhoop, take off the old head, and wipe down the bearing edge before fitting the new one.
- Center the new head on the shell, set the hoop over it, and thread every tension rod finger-tight.
- Tighten in a star pattern to a light, even tension, then re-engage the snare strainer and adjust snare tension to taste.
Care Tip: Because this film is so thin, keep snare tension light and even — overtightening the strainer against a fresh 2mil head is the fastest way to tear it.
