How to Clean and Oil Your French Horn
- Apply a few drops of rotor oil at the valve caps and work each rotor back and forth to spread it through the bearing.
- Pull the tuning slide and apply a thin coat of tuning slide grease before reseating it.
- Feed the French horn snake through the leadpipe and main tubing to clear buildup, and use the mouthpiece brush on the mouthpiece.
- Wipe the exterior down with the lacquer polishing cloth to remove fingerprints and keep the finish looking sharp.
Care Tip: Keep an eye on the rotor strings included in this kit. A stretched or frayed string is one of the most common reasons a French horn's valves suddenly feel sluggish or unresponsive.
